Cookieless listing analytics

Sunlist measures how often installer listings are seen and contacted so installers can see how their listing performs. We do this without cookies, local storage or any other identifier stored on your device.

• When a listing card is at least 50% visible for one second, or you view a profile, reveal a phone number, or click a website or email link, we record the event, the page, the listing position and whether the listing was a paid featured placement.
• To count visits without identifying you, we compute a one-way hash (SHA-256) of your IP address, your browser's user-agent string and a random value that changes every day. Your IP address is never stored. The daily random value is deleted after two days, so hashes can't be linked across days or turned back into an IP address.
• We also store the referring website's domain, a coarse device type (mobile/tablet/desktop) and country.
• Known bots are excluded, and visits by logged-in installers and admins aren't counted.
• Raw events are deleted after 13 months. Daily totals per listing (which contain no information about visitors) are kept.

Because nothing is stored on or read from your device, this measurement doesn't need a cookie consent banner under PECR. Our lawful basis for processing is legitimate interests: providing installers with statistics about their listing.

Installer data

Installer details come from the public MCS installer register and Companies House. Installers can claim their listing to correct it. Installer email addresses are used only to route enquiries and are never published on the site.
